Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the JACOM INC website (jacominc.org) collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers this public website only. See "Student records from schools" below for the JACOM platform.
Who we are
JACOM INC, 7902 4th St N, St Petersburg, FL 33702. Email kmharvey@jacominc.org or call 727-473-0533.
What we collect
- What you type into our contact form: your name, email address, the role you choose (student, parent, counselor, sponsor and so on), your school or organization, and your message. We also note which page of the site you sent it from and, if you arrived through a link in one of our episodes, newsletters or posts, the short link code that brought you here. That code is kept only in your browser for the current visit.
- Spam-prevention codes: to limit how many messages can be sent from one connection or one email address in a given time, we store one-way scrambled codes made from your internet address and your email address. The codes can't be turned back into either one, and we don't keep your internet address itself.
- Standard server records: the companies that host this website and our database automatically record basic technical details, such as internet address and browser type, to keep their services secure and running.
Visit counts: this website does not use advertising trackers. We count visits with PostHog in a cookie-free mode. It records which page was viewed, your browser and device type, screen size and time zone (from the standard details every browser sends), the approximate city or country the visit came from, the website that linked you here, and any short link code in the address. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, and we never connect a visit to your name or email. To tell one day’s visitors apart, PostHog briefly uses your internet address and browser type to make a scrambled code that changes every day; your internet address isn’t stored with the visit. We also note when the contact form is sent, without its contents. Our website host may set cookies it needs to deliver the site securely.
How we use it
We use what you send us to reply, answer your questions, set up demos or meetings you ask for, and improve our services. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We share it only with the service providers that run this website, count its visits, store our records, and deliver our email, and only so they can do that work for us. We may also share it if the law requires us to.
Children and students
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them through it. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, a parent or guardian can email kmharvey@jacominc.org and we will delete it. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before sending us a message.
Student records from schools
When a school or district uses the JACOM platform, student information is handled under a separate written agreement with that school or district. That agreement follows the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and applicable state student-privacy laws. JACOM INC does not sell student data. The SponsorConnect apps count screen views the same cookie-free way described above: which screen was opened, never who opened it, and never any part of a student record.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages only as long as we need them to respond to you and to keep ordinary business records.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information you've sent us. Email kmharvey@jacominc.org and we will respond promptly.
Security
Information you send through this site is encrypted in transit, and only authorized JACOM INC staff can read stored messages. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
